2018 Contract Negotiations-Bargaining Updates

CAPE will commence negotiations with Los Angeles County in mid-2018. Please check back here for any bargaining updates.

Bargaining Update:

This year, the California Association of Professional Employees will sit across the table from Los Angeles County management to negotiate successor agreements to its MOUs for units 131/132, 501/502 and 511/512.

On March 29, negotiations commenced for the Fringe Benefits contract, which is bargained through the Coalition of County Unions (CCU). CAPE General Counsel and CCU chair Blaine Meek is the chief negotiator for the CCU.

On March 22, CAPE conducted a Salary Inequities Seminar for members interested in presenting a salary inequity at negotiations.

On Feb. 24, CAPE Negotiations Team members met at the CAPE office for orientation and proposal development. We have an enthusiastic team of members representing the interests of their fellow CAPE union members!

Check out photos of the teams at work on CAPE's Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/CAPEUnion/posts/1816617201682004. (And while you're visiting, please like our Facebook page!)

At its January board meeting, the CAPE Board of Directors selected from a broad range of CAPE members. Click here to see your 2018 Negotiations Team. The first negotiations sessions is expected to take place sometime in June. We will keep members updated as the process moves forward. Additionally, the Coalition of County Unions, of which CAPE is a member, will start its negotiations with the county in March. If you are a CAPE member and have suggestions for proposals, you're welcome to email us at 2018negotiations@capeunion.org.
